Turn-Around Consulting

Modern marina operations are NOTHING like their early predecessors. A recreational marina was much easier to manage. If you liked people, had good boat handling skills and love of the water... you were in pretty good shape for the job.

With the dramatic changes in the marina industry over the past two decades many operators and facilites have not kept pace with the times and have fallen behind the curve.

Just the sheer number of regulations that a recreational operator must keep up with to stay in compliance can be a daunting task alone. When you add the aspects of a service department, restaurant, dry storage facility, guest rooms, boat rentals, fishing charters and the Best Management Practices for each of these it is easy to see why so many have been unable to meet the challenge without assistance.

There are literally hundreds of factors that may have contributed to a property's or operation's "underperforming" condition.

Whatever the case, AMM will analyze the operation, human resources and local market conditions; and will present you with a viable "turn-around" recovery plan or exit strategy. Once the best course of action is determined, AMM will execute and manage the strategy from start to finish.

Change Management

Guiding, nurturing, and shepherding human capital are the skills most needed to ensure that organizational change is received and implemented enthusiastically, rather than with distrust and fear. The degree to which leaders are able to manage change, develop consensus, and sustain commitment will determine the success (or failure) of any management initiative or reform effort.

It is often more desirable and much more effective to have new faces implement change, especially for employees who have been with an operation for some time. This is especially true where owners have developed strong bonds or friendships within the organization.

Not only do employees have a tendenancy to resist change, but so do owners and operators who have become accustomed to doing things in a particular fashion, for a particular reason or no reason at all.

Change Agents

As "Change Agents" AMM must be given the clout to make change. We will bring the conviction and charisma to make things happen and keep people engaged.

We have the advantage of being able to understand - but not participate in the organization's politics.

We are able to "deconstruct" the entire organization and put it back together again in innovative and original ways without emotional burden.

We can analyze objectively and provide a persuasive and compelling defense of our analyses and objectives for change.

We can speak all of the languages of the organization and we understand the impact of change - whether it is by radical overhaul or incremental and continous.

We can bring order out of chaos.

The decision to consider Turn-Around Consulting and Change Management can be one of the wisest moves a marina operator or owner can make. AMM's Managed Recovery and Change Management provide owners with a performance guarantee - effectively removing any doubt or risk on the owners part that the plans and actions will be successful... and money well spent.
